I don`t want to sound like a skipping record, what with all the recent bullet testing, but I feel this is as good a time as any to show previous results from these bonded, partition handgun bullets...Sometime back in 2011 I loaded up some 44 caliber 280gr A-frame bullets for my iron sight Freedom with its 7 1/2" barrel.... Used a good charge of H-110 that was set off with a CCI 350... never clocked the velocity but accuracy was extraordinary..... It was a bright, sunny day and as I sat in the shadows of the tree line, two good size boar were walking away from a creek and back to the shade of the forest. With my back against a tree and the gun on short cross sticks I watched the boar get closer until, upon reaching the shadows, they realized something was wrong and stopped.....POW... I dropped the leader with a head shot while #2 wheeled and wanted out of there as fast as his hoofed feet would take him.. This move gave a slight 1/4 away shot to his left side... BOOM...shot #2 rang out with the A-frame going through the ribs, blowing up the heart, and exiting on the right side.... Regardless of what I write, the only way to show the damage done by the Swift are photos......1) Shows entrance 2) Shows damage under hide of entrance 3) Blown apart heart 4) Pieces of lung from exit 5) Short blood trail..... Swift makes a good hunting handgun bullet......

Holy heart shots! That thing is mean.

Nice on the run shot. I've let lead fly at many of them and it's not just something that happens without practice and proficiency.

My filter is broken.

Amazing that we have a bullet that opens and is devastating on deer/hogs but offers the toughness and good penetration for use on cape buff and dangerous game. I love em

Based on your prior Article on this subject, I have 35 rounds of those 280 grain A Frames loaded and zeroed for Hog hunting I have planned for November.

I may try them on Whitetail as well. Mine are loaded in Starline brass over 17.0 grains of 2400 and Win Large Pistol Primers. I tried H110 but my S&W 629 was more accurate with 2400.

17 grs of 2400 is the same load I used on a cow elk several years ago with the Speer Gold Dot 270 gr bullet. It's not as tough a bullet as your A Frame but worked fine on my elk out of the Super Red Hawk.

Thanks James for the post, love seeing field results & bullet performance. I just finished setting up my BFR 500 JRH with the Swift 325?s for deer season.

James, a little off topic. I know your load is not exactly the same as mine, but with that 280 grain bullet, where do you zero it when woods hunting with all shots under 100 yards?

I was thinking of going with 1" high at 25.

Depending on your load and gun, 1" high at 25 yards could have you 4"+ high at 50 yards. I zero all my revolvers to 2" high at 50 yards. This will put you dead on to a tad low at 25, about dead on at 75, and 3-4" low at 100. All depending on exact load, gun and sight hight.

I am leaving for the range in a few minutes. I have trouble at this range shooting on paper beyond 25 yards but if I get there early I can try 50 yards. I am going to take this advice today.

Do you know the muzzle velocity your load is running at? If you do, you can input the info into a ballistic calculator and see where your 25 yard mark should be relative to 50, 75, 100, and so on.

Is dead on at 25 good for both iron sighted and scoped revolvers?

Not necessarily. Sight height does make a difference. For instance if you zero my 45 Colt load (250 @ 1,200) at 25 yards with open sights it will be about 8" low @ 100, whereas with a scope it will only be about 5" low @ 100.
