I ran across a good deal on two sets of dies...250 Savage and .300 Savage. Also rounded up some fired cases for each. Sized them and seated a 100gr Sierra BTSP in the .250 and a 150gr Hornady in the .300. They are couple of sweet looking rounds! I bought the dies because I had hoped to own Striker switch barrels for them some day...well the I "hoped to" has change to "have to". Sometime over the next year I'm going to have OTT make me a matched pair of 15" barrels chambered in these rounds.

My interest in these was because they are on the same case as the 22-250 and I just happen to have a Striker in that cartridge. Seems like a natural fit?! Huh?!

I always thought the Savage cartridges were neat. My Grandpa left me a Savage Super Sporter in 300. It has a Lyman peep sight on the reciever and a fold down sight on the barrel. Kind of a neat old gun. I have dies for it but never got any brass. Someday I'll get to it.

A friend of mine rebarreled an XP to 250 Savage, super accurate.

sounds like a plan dan! gotta have barrels to go with the dies.
how about improving the 250? to a 250 savage improved. that may be the icing on the cake. i'd kinnda like to have a striker, but may be a while. this year, i gotta get me a 300mag encore going.

Since I have the standard .250 Savage dies I'll just stick with it. But should I swagger onto a set of the Improved dies at the right dime I will buy them. I just can not pass on a good price on dies. One time I bought a set of RCBS .257 Roberts Improved dies for $10...then someone needed a set so I sold them.

At some shops the Strikers are pretty easy to find and can be inexpensive...bought my 22-250 with scope for $300.

The barrel is gone! Finally caught up to Tillio yesterday...he's been out a lot with the nice weather...and had him take it off. I mailed it this AM.
