I have been wearing glasses for over 30 years but my eyes continue to become less.."flexible" with respect to range of focus. To the point that the front sight on an open sight handgun is too fuzzy to hold on the target that I can "see" fine using my glasses. I thought I was going to have to go back to scopes on all my hunting handguns until I got an idea..I got an old pair of glasses and took the right lens completely out! Left the left lens in place..It took a few minutes of wearing but what happened was that my brain put the two images together into a composite...I can clearly see the target at distance and clearly see the front sight almost as well as I could when in my 20's! Now I cannot see quite as well at distance with only one eye but I can see plenty well enough for deer at up to 50 yards which is about my max acceptable range for an open sighted gun...This works better than I would ever have believed...If you suffer old eyes this might help you hunt with open sights longer..

That's exactly what I did the last few years I shot USPSA competition but it doesn't work for me when I'm walking & hunting, messes up a person's balance in the mountains. Glad it's working for you!

That sounds pretty interesting. I might have to try it. I may not be old, but my eyesight is horrible.

My eyesight is getting a little fuzzy with age as well. I have found that 1x reading glasses sharpen up the sights without fuzzing up targets at typical iron sight distances.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Great idea. Going to a red dot has helped me tremendously with aging eyes.

Any way you can...... Great idea... I have been trying to locate any of the old Millet rear sight assemblies with the white outline to help align everything when using iron sights.
The fiber optic front and rear also helps....

At 70 I have the same issue with open sights. Many years ago I had an eye doctor write a prescription for my front sight distance or about 30 inches in my sighting eye and my distance prescription in the other eye. I had Decot make me shooting glasses with these prescriptions. I have been hunting for years now with these. When first put on they make you feel a little funny but that goes away within seconds as your brain adjusts. Now if the lighting is good my sights are sharp and still I have normal distance vision.

All of you might want to try Zeiss progressive lenses in your glasses. I've used the for many years. Multiple planes of focus by merely tilting your head. Works great in my master good eye, but fuzzy in the nonmaster cataract eye, which will be fixed this year. Anxious to see what happens. Red dots and scopes make the bad eye about close to normal.
