This past Saturday, Arkansas's Modern Gun Private Land Doe Hunt started, I had to work Saturday and didn't get started toward my lease until Sunday morning almost at noon. After getting to camp and setting everything up, I didn't get to hunt until Monday. Busy as my life has been this year, I needed a break. I traveled to my box stand overlooking a logging road, easy location to get to, nice and comfy way to get away from the hustle of life. Feeder is 104 lasered yards away. Well my favorite thing about hunting is watching the dark turn to light, as it gets grayer and then golden. The feeder goes 700 AM, but there were deer milling up and down the roadway before legal light. The feeder went off as planned, and here comes the herd. (We had been getting pictures of 6-10 deer at this feeder location all summer) Had my camcorder on a tripod in the window and looking down the road, this feeder is 100 yards from my stand.
I let them feed for a little while and when they started looking at the blind, I figured it was time to get busy. I had the 460 XVR 8 3/8" with the Leupold 2.5x8 VX3, loaded with Hornady 200gr SST ammo, rested on a Bog Pod w/ PSR with a rear bag. I must admit, I got a little excited (I hope this never stops) well I cocked that cannon and settle the crosshairs on the biggest doe out there. I watched until she started turning broadside to me. I slowly touched the trigger and began to press it to the rear. The gun steadied with the crosshairs behind her front shoulder. The trigger break was a surprise and as the gun came out of recoil, I saw her buck and run into the woods. I went to check and found good sign, she traveled about 20 yards into the woods. She weighed around 115 lbs.
The SST entered about 1" behind her shoulder and traveled through her, exiting just in front of the right hip. I video recorded it and saw the bullet hit the ground about 75-100 yards past her.

Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Nice. Too hot to get me interested. Where do you hunt? I'm in southern Grant County.
My filter is broken.

Good job! I take it you're pleased with that bullet's performance?

Sorry for the sasquatch looking thing holding the deer. I'm 6'4 300 lbs for reference. We are in a lease near Rison AR.

I was worried about it for sure. The bullet entered about an inch behind the shoulder and exited just in front of her left rear ham. The exit wound barely bled, I'm guessing it got plugged with fat. Basically it traveled the length of her body(?) I had just bought a case of that ammo. There were pieces of lungs on the ground where I shot her and some blood. I try not to post pictures of blood etc. I have the shot on video but don't know how to post it.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.
