I'm just curious what power you put your pistol scope on when you are sighting in the pistol?. I have an Elite Bushnell 2-6 variable that I'm working with now. Does it make a difference what power it's on, or just what's the best for me as far as sight picture? I'm new to using a scope on my pistol. I really like it, just looking for other folk's ideas. Thanks

All my handgun scopes are 2-6x32, I sight them in at 4x which is were I usually keep them set at. I sight the .357's and .44 at 50yrd's and my .22's at 35yrd's.

Whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. Your wobble will be more evident at high X's and that can be intimidating when trying to hold steady on a target.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

What s4s4u said. I have 3 of those scopes on my guns. Love them. I usually start on 2 power and finish off on 6. It's good practice with x hair bounce. But as stated I rarely go beyond 4 power in the field.

All my scoped handguns wear 2.5-8x power Nikons. I don't typically shoot them at 25, but if I have to I set the scope to 2.5x power. At 50 yards it's 4x, and at 100 I turn them all the way up to 8x. I've got a pretty steady table and rest, so the wobble isn't too bad.
It doesn't make a difference which magnification you have the scope on. The bullets will hit the same spot regardless. Just go with the magnification you feel most comfortable with.

Thanks for the information. I'm going out in the morning before the wind comes up and finishing sighting it in. I have a good solid table and bags.

On Variables, I usually sight them in initially on 5 or 6X power, then check them at the highest and lowest magnifications to ensure there is no change in POI as the magnification changes.

I normally sight in on the highest power setting. I feel the better I can see the target, the better job I get on sight in. If you plan on longer shots, a Bubble Level is not a bad plan either.
I normally hunt on lower power settings to improve the field of view.
