I have leupold 2x8x32mm on two of my revolvers. I have a Galco Kodiak holster for them and it leaves the scope exposed. I have been covering them with the neopreme scope cover that came with them. I was wanting to put scope lens caps on them. Either Butler Creek or Alumina ls from Leupold.
Any suggestions? If you have one or the other for this scope I would appreciate knowing what sizes I need.

I don't have that scope but do use the Butler Creek see through flip up caps on the eyepiece and they work well.

Rod, too.

I have about changed all of mine back over to Bikini covers. The Butler Creek covers seem to quit staying snapped shut after a while. They also come off under repeated recoil on handguns.
The Leupold's look very good, but I have never tried any of them so far.

I use Butler Creek covers on my scopes. I have the see through covers on one but prefer their standard black plastic cover. I've never had properly sized Butler Creek covers come off on their own due to recoil on rounds ranging from 44 mag, 375JDJ, .454 Casull, .500 S&W to .45-70 and 300 Win mag. Get them too large and yes they will move on you.

I have the Butler Creek covers on a muzzle braked 7-08 16" Encore with the Leupold 2.5x8 scope. I believe the sizes are 17 eye and 19 objective. Never had this set come off but it is a very light kicker.

I have the same on my FA 83 454 and it'll chunk the front cover on every shot.

I don't use them; I use my equipment as hard as anybody but to me scope covers are just one extra unnecessary detail to deal with in the field when I feel I already have enough. Plus yes they can create a "fit" problem with certain combinations of guns/holsters. I find the lenses clean up just fine using the proper tools/techniques; never had a major problem that a scope cover would have prevented.

Just my .02 cents worth.

Gregg, I'm with you. I've used several different ones and have found them to be more a pain in the rear then anything. I carry a lens cleaning cloth and lens cleaning pen in my pocket while afield.

I use a cover for the rear lens when I am moving to and from the stand. The front lens, facing downward I don't bother with.

Once I get to the stand, the lens cap comes off.

good resources on this site, lots of knowledge from the field.

I have the leupold alumina cover on the eye piece of my luepold 2x scope on my FA 83. I also have a butler creek on the same scope which is mounted on a Ruger Blackhawk Hunter.

The luepold is expensive, but I definitely prefer it to the butler creek cover. it flips up easily with a convenient thumb latch, and flips up quieter that the BC cover. it also stays closed unless you flip the switch. in addition, it looks sleek, and not as clunky as the slip on covers as it screws into the pre existing threads on your scope.

I hunt in the Pacific NW rain forest now, and it has been a must have. I field carry in a holster, so As 98Redline stated, I don't worry about the objective lens as it is covered by my holster.

I just dry fire practice with it on, and it has become second nature to "flip the lid" while in the motion of lining up for the shot.
