For those of you who are shooting reflex sights such as a Trijicon RMR or Leupold Delta point, how do you line up the dot for your shot?

I have had a Delta Point for several years but have never really been accurate with it. The trouble I have is that unlike my Ultradot tube sights, if my head is in a slightly different position with respect to the gun when I line up the shot, my shot is off target (parallax error). I guess the issue is that there is only one reference point (the dot) and positioning everything exactly the same every time has been a struggle, especially when distances start getting longer. The issue is not my shooting as with irons or with a tube type red dot I am good unsupported to 50 and off the bags, out to 100yds.

I feel like the reflex sights would work much better if there was a rear sight or peep type rear aperture such as a One Ragged Hole or the ones that Sixshot makes.

So those of you that use them, what is your secret?

I just put the dot where I want the bullet to go and squeeeeeeze.... I have a reflex on my FA M97 and it'll stick'em all in the same hole.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I have several red dot sights and have gotten rid of several. Some red dots have extreme parallax and others almost none. If you get the dot near the edge most will have some parallax. My Vortex Venom and Bushnell TRS-25 are very good and only at the extreme edge is there any shift in POI. I have two Bushnell Trophy tube type that show no parallax at all; they have multiple reticles and if you switch your POI will change and not reset when turned back.

I would send the Delta Point back with a not and see if they can correct it, at their price point it should not have much parallax.

Hate to say this, but I've been shooting reflex sighted handguns for several years now and never experienced a parallax error. The reflex sights I've used are JPoint and Burris Fastfire.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

I've got Burris FF3 on my SBHH 44, my Single Six Hunter, and my daughter's 4 5/8 Blackhawk 44. Haven't noticed any parallax error yet.

The only problem I'd had with the small reflex sights is finding the dot in the window in a hurry. I found it helps a lot if they are mounted as low as possible, close to the bore.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I had purchased a Leupold Delta Point an mounted on a Freedom 44.... I took the boar I was after but that darn little red dot bounced around so much while trying an off hand shot I sold it the following week... It magnified my shakes to the point it looked like a mosquito trying to make a landing...Gettin to old for this.....
