Hello. I was not sure where I should post this question so I posted it here. I have recently obtained a second Ruger Super Blackhawk in a trade with my brother. I am the third owner, and love the gun. It's a 4" .44 Mag.. I the problem is that it is ten times more shiny than my Hunter, almost like a mirror. My question is it possible, and has anyone here ever had a firearm bead blasted?

Yes and yes. Blasting makes a great matte finish. Another option is maroon scotchbrite pad, patience and persistence - this will give a a great looking satin finish similar to a premier grade freedom arms. It's easy to touch up flaws as well.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Wow! Thanks. I guess I also should have asked for a name of a trust bead blaster. I could always try the scotchbrite first.

X2 on what KRal has said. When it comes to bead blasting the scratches and dents need to be removed first. Otherwise they just simply get magnified once bead blasted.
Second choice is the maroon Scotch-Brite

Remember this that a fine Bead Blast can still get scratched.
As well as the scotch - brite.

If you are a DIY then you can spend almost as much money getting correct files and stones and etc for the same or less to have a professional do it.

Ken Kelly of Mag-Na-Port bead blasted a grey (original) Super Redhawk of mine, plus other things. Looks great. I'ved used it so much there are a few small scratches.
