Does the standard 1" Ultradot Red Dot fit the factory Ruger Super Redhawk rings, as far as length of the Ultradot's tube? Thanks in advance guys.

It fits like it was designed for the application.

If your factory rings are "Brand New and Unused" you can contact Ruger and swap them out for 30mm ones. That is the road I went down with my 480 Super RedHawk. It has a 30mm UltraDot mounted on it. If buying again today I would have went one more step up and ordered a 30mm MatchDot II. The main advantage when used on a SRH would be the additional 2 MOA Dot Size for Low Light. It produces less bloom.
If you looked through both a 1" "25mm" as well as a 30mm at the same time to get a comparison. You would go with a 30mm. If your rings are used and cannot be traded for 30mm ones is a big factor.

FROSTY; the following link shows my SRH with an ultra-dot in factory rings. I'm still struggling with photo posting, so excuhttp://www.handgunhunt.com/photopost/data/500/454_finished_web_2.jpgse the link. Thought it might help.

I believe you would need an extension ring for that one.

If you shoot with both eyes open, the tube size isn't really a factor. I have no problem with a 1" UltraDot.

Rod, too.

I use the 1? and use my eyes open but that matchdot with smaller dot would come in handy. The ruger store sells extra rings. Reasonable and 30mm are easily acquired.

The Ultradot 30 weighs in around 4 ounces.

Here's an Ultradot 30 mounted on a .454 SRH:

Max,
I like the Ultradot being so compact, I was undecided on a traditional scope or red dot. The majority of my shots will be 50 yards or less, max distance will be 75 to 80 yards. Definitely going to order a Ultradot today!

I'd lap those rings were it mine. The set that came with my SBH Hunter needed it. Other than that, they'll be great.

That is sweet Max. I bet it's quite a handful.

If a guy was to order an altradot, where would be the best place to buy one from?

It was a handful due to the light weight (weighs two ounces less than my 6 1/2-inch Model 29.

I would order directly from Ultradot West.

I put the Matchdot on my .480 with Leupold extension rings and wish I'd just gotten the regular 30mm. Which I put on the .44Mag.

With Ultradots, and all red-dot sights really, one doesn't worry about eye relief, correct?

Well, I received my Ultradot from UPS today. The unit was quick to mount in the Ruger rings and sighting in was a breeze with the 454. It grouped 6 rounds in a area the size of a baseball at 50 yards. This is out of a stock SRH shooting off a sandbag during heavy snowfall. I'm ready to bring home some venison!!

Just found out that the 1" Ultradot with a 2MOA dot will debut at the ShotShow this January. Expect arrivals from Japan stateside in May. I'm getting one for sure.

Any word on if the 30mm Ultradot will be offered with a 2 MOA dot?

I would assume so, but I do not know for certain. The Matchdot and Matchdot II are 30mm, and has 2-8 MOA dot, plus drop compensation. If you're going to go with the larger body, might as well get the Matchdot. I prefer the lower cost and smaller size of the original Ultradot.

The only issue there is you'd need a special extension ring because of the long turret. I have never had an issue with a 1" tube red dot on a handgun as I shoot with both eyes open. The tube pretty much disappears. Another plus is that you can use the factory supplied rings on the SRH.

Rod, too.
