I decided to make a new post for the 2 point mounting system I developed for my 460 XVR revolver. I have never seen this method before. Has anyone else done this?

For the grip mount you replace the Hogue lug screw and the nut with a standard threaded swivel stud. I think it's a 10-32 thread. I had to trim the 1/2" long stud to match the grip screw length. I believe the Hogue grip screw is a 10-24. I used a standard hex nut and filed the 2 sides to the same width as the factory nut inside the grip bracket.

For the frame mount I attached a Magpul RSA sling adapter for an AR to the unused ring groove on my Weigan scope base. This method carrys and shoots great. I like it better than a barrel mount as it keeps the sling behind the cylinder gap.

I have attached a few photo links below.

Looks slick! I don't t long enough that you can put tension on it when firing free hand?

My sling is long enough for me to lock in and use it as an offhand support. It locks in and carries better than my 2 point Contender carry - SSK forend and grip screws that I have used for 35 years. Its about 6 - 8 inches longer than the Contender carry.

Pretty neat. I wasn't aware of the Magpul sling adapter.

I have hooked both ends of sling to my Encore grip stud using a key ring. Not great for carry, but works for support when shooting offhand.

The single point attach with both sling ends at the grip is how I carried my 460 last year. The 2 point attachment is much better. You can lock in for a steadier offhand shot this way.
To try it tie a loop of 550 paracord around the base of your rear scope ring under the scope and attach to that. Carry so that the strap runs from the grip - under your trigger hand - over the shoulder of your off hand. The gun lays flat muzzle down and pulls up smoothly. You can brace firmly into the gun if the strap is properly adjusted.

I like this. Too bad it requires the use of a Weaver-type rail. I recently purchased swivel stud set made by Grovetec for my contender and found that basically the only stuff that works is what goes through the grip cap. None of the other stuff was the correct diameter, and I am loath the start drilling holes in the forend as that will make it non stock for production class/practical hunter silhouette competition.

Buy the swivel set from Uncle Mikes for shotguns. You need to know the barrel diameter to get the proper one, they clamp to the barrel and have worked well for me.

The scope base mount is a good idea. If I had seen that years ago I might have gone that way but I just drilled and tapped a sling swivel to the top of the grip on my 'Tender which serves the same purpose. A way to carry as well as steady the shot.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
