After purchasing a 454 Casull a while back, I seem to have been bitten by the big-bore bug. The fellow I purchased the SRH from has a BFR in 45/70 with a ten inch barrel. I really need it like a hole in my head. But it looks and feels Sooooo good. I can probably get it for a decent price. Wanting to hunt with my revolvers what can I do with the BFR that I can't with my SRH. Or should I just get it anyway and enjoy shooting it. Any one experienced with the big-bore bug :). Or the BFR?

Never had one but i always think if it's a good deal I will probably regret not getting it later when I can't find such a deal.

I have one with a 7 1/2-inch barrel and I like it a lot. It's accurate and fun to shoot.

If it?s a good deal you should buy it as an investment. That?s what I tell my wife every time I drag another one home!

Mine was very accurate, but was a bit big and unwieldy for me, so I have stuck with standard cylinders since then.

Ya only live once! In worst case, you can sell it if you don't like it. I think it sounds like a ton of fun and a great conversation piece and a good investment!

As a side note, what it the recommended loading for the BFR in 45/70? Factory level performance or can you push that with handloads?

Thanks for the input guys. I've made arrangements to pick it up. It just looks like way too much fun.
