My son and I went to the farm we hunt today shed hunting and just bumming around. A four in. .357 as my hip gun. Close to camp I jumped a woodcock and stopped to watch her flight. Looking down there was her nest with 4 eggs in it. I have never seen a woodcock nest before, rare enough to see a woodcock. Big eggs for the size of the bird.Later riding down an old county road by the creek we came across an otter padding around on the bank. Another first for me as I had not seen an otter in the wild before either, they are not real common here. So I had a very good day with good company and saw some things new to me. It was sunny and in the fifty's when we left and snowing like hell when I got home with the ground covered already.Gotta love KY. in the spring.

The meat won't fry if the lead don't fly.

BROWNSVILLE IS ABOUT 175,000 PEOPLE BUT THE COUNTRY IS CLOSE BY AND WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS THERE ARE PROBABLY JAVELINA, TURKEY, FERAL HOGS, COYOTES, BOBCATS, AND AN OCCASSIONAL MOUNTAIN LION. WE ALSO HAVE A BIG VARIETY OF BIRDS, A LOT OF RESIDENT DUCKS, WILD PARAKEETS AND PARROTS, AND ALL KIND OF OTHER BIRDS LIVE HERE OR MIGRATE THRU HERE. STILL, THERE IS NO PLACE I WOULD RATHER BE THAN THE COUNTRY.
"ADAPT OR DIE". I USE ALL CAPS, NOT BECAUSE I AM YELLING, BUT BECAUSE IT IS AN OLD HABIT FROM MY ARMY DAYS, PLUS IT IS EASIER TO TYPE AND READ.

Fun time. Find any sheds? So far in 3 outings I have only found one.

No sheds or SOUTHERN BORN YANKEES seen. We quit hanging Yankees several years ago James, so you would be WELCOMED, and fit right in. The road we were on had been under 6 ft. of water less than a week ago.

We quit hanging Yankees several years ago JB, When we hunted in Tenn. they served shrimp gumbo and Kim told me to break up the corn bread over the gumbo.... Man O Man was that good, however, even though you guys stopped hanging Yankees, I got a feeling that once I opened my big mouth the hanging would start right up... PS- when I travel south of the Mason/Dixon Line I make sure I carry a copy of my birth certificate... That helped me once in a Georgia gas station off of I-95............

James I have it on excellent authority that, even though you butcher the Kings English to the ninth degree, and were raised on the wrong side of the mighty Ohio River, you are a straight shooter and will do to ride the river with.[High praise indeed from another pistolero] I have seen that you have excellent taste in guns and dogs, and I hear you speak fluent Kentucky windage and elevation and know what a swag is and when to use it. Being fluent in that language tends to keep things civil most places.

Swag. and the ability to use it sure comes in handy. I'm sure James is a master! I've taught my son the art so I am passing it on, he learned the B.S.from somewhere else.
