I am looking at a Vaquero chambered in a .45 and was concerned with the accuracy because of the blade front site. Can you get a tight enough group to hunt deer with it? (Out to 25 yards or so)

It will work fine if the shooter does. Its possible that some front sight filing and / or barrel turning might be required (or maybe not) to properly zero it for the load being used.

Unfortunately depends upon the gun. So as to answer your question, means a resounding yes and no. I have a Ruger Birdshead grip (old Model Vaquero)w/3-1/2" barrel that gives me 2" or less (when I do my part) at 34yds, with a 265gr cast bullet. Yes at my range the fine folks who built it did not give us a backstop at 25yds. We got one at 18 and then 34 and then 50yds.
Read again what 500WE said about the whole thing !!! Several things need to come together. A good load needs to be purchased or developed. Along with making sure that the barrel is clocked correct.
Please do not allow someone to bend the front sight.
I also am very reluctant to file a front sight when I know that I can do other things for correction. I am speaking of load velocity, Bullet weight, and distance of target.
Hunting is always under changing conditions and you never know what an animal will do.
I prefer an older model, ( larger frame ) even though it is heavier. The reason is, I can shoot heavier loads than with the new models. This gives me more choices and a broader spectrum with which to work.
