I have noticed for quite some time now, that when I go to the gun safe, I leave with my Redhawk 45lc/acp.

That's got me thinking, that I really need a Redhawk 44 mag with a 5 1/2" barrel.

Help me feed the need, let's see some pics and video's of your Redhawk's. Successful hunts, loads used, holsters, and even custom Redhawks would be great.

Thanks to all the enablers.

I don't have any pictures handy however as the owner of a 5 1/2" Redhawk in 44mag, you reeeeeeeeealy need to get one.
One of my absolute favorite revolvers.

I would never try to talk someone out of buying another gun[buy buy buy] but you already have perfection in the .45 colt .Anything else is just another toy.

I agree, the 44 does nothing that the 45 can't. But if you feel the need.......

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have a Redhawk 44 mag with a 5.t inch barrel. I love it. I have killed several whitetail with it using iron sightsnout to 75 yards and one using a red dot sight. I can add a photo monday when I can get to a computer.

My profile photo shows me with a doe I took with it at 75 yards several years ago.

I believe want and need are synonyms.
I could be wrong, but I don't really want to find out either.

I like both the 44 mag and heavy 45 colt rounds, and find them pleasant to shoot. So having similar revolvers would just be a plus to me.

Thanks for the replies.

BRASF0311 and 45Man the 5 1/2" in RedHawk is my favorite barrel length. I have shot the 4 1/2" and the 7 1/2" I like the balance of the 5 1/2 best. Have you tried the 405gr RHO in the 45? Also for fun read the article on Garrett Cartridges about the 44 or 45?

A 41 in 5 1/2" would grab my attention.

WHAT IS THE 405gr RHO?

MY 41 REDHAWK IS THE ONLY 41 MAG I OWN SO I NEED TO KEEP IT, EVEN THOUGH IT IS A SAFE QUEEN.

He speaks of the RedHawk Only loads from Garrett Cartridges. Some pretty inpressive stuff.

Garrett's 45 RHO

45Man the 405gr RHO (Red Hawk Only) is a 405gr 45 caliber cartridge that is too long for Blackhawks and is for the Red Hawks only Hence RHO
I shot it out of a 5 1/2 Redhawk and it is quire powerful. The pistol had a scope on it and I may not have needed to, but I sort of dodged that scope when the recoil brought up the gun so hard. I did not get to shoot any animal. I can only think of 2 critters that I would want to try it on and that is a 300-400LB Hog or a Bison.

PLease hang on to your 41 mag RedHawk. I have only seen one and it was a Blue Version, at a Pawn shop. It has some rust in the barrel and showed some wear. They were asking 600 for it and I did not want to pay that. I couldn't talk them down. It seems all pawn shops are using Gunbroker to determine their prices now.

Garrett's 45 RHO

If you shoot that cartridge with iron sights only,,, You have to drift the front sight over, so you do not run out of adjustment on the rear sight. There is a lot of torque on the pistol when shooting that cartridge.

Here is a nice write up by Hamilton Bowen speaking favorably of the 45 RHO.

AFTER YEARS OF STUDY AND SURVEY I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT THE SECRET FORMULA USED BY PAWN SHOPS TO PRICE REVOLVERS FOR SALE, WHICH IS: THE HIGHER OF 10 TIMES WHAT THEY LOANED ON THE GUN OR THE BLUE BOOK VALUE FOR 100% NIB. OBVIOUSLY ACTUAL CONDITION MEANS NOTHING TO THEM OR THEY WOULD TAKE BETTER CARE OF THEM.

Have had two .41 Rhawks...one stainless...one blue both 5.5''
The one I have kept is a 5.5" .410 GNR
They are tuff, can be smooth but I have never had an S&W feeling trigger on them.. single action good but not great
I like mine a lot--it is the one I pick up the most

Help me feed the need, let's see some pics of your Redhawk's. Successful hunts

The above photos are of my early model blue Redhawk .44.....Those are Garretts 330gr hammerheads on the camo... Talked with Randy Garrett about that load because I shot 3" groups @100yds with a scope on that gun and was impressed... I wanted to use on a then up coming hippo hunt but he talked me out of using them... (never got hippo)... My Redhawk is a keeper...
PS the bottom pic with boar was using the old Winchester 240gr LSWC-GC soft lead ammo...

Thanks for the pics James, very nice. I like the stainless 5 1/2" barrel model, but those Hunter models are nice too.

I completely understand that. I'll probably end up with both barrel lengths at some point, but I'll most likely start with the 5 1/2".
