Congrats on the pig. Unfortunately the image isn't working here.

Thank You James for posting the pics. My job has kept me gone from home for the past 7 weeks. I've been home only a few days during this time and most were less than 14 hours. So when my company had me flying to Florida for 4 days I carried my JRH custom 475 linebaugh shooting the speer 275 gr deep curls. The guide turned the dog loose on the edge of a swamp and within 30 minutes latched onto the boar I shot. When the guide and I approached on foot the hog broke free of the dog. The guide called off the dog at that point. I followed the hog best I could. I lost sight of it as it headed down a cattle fence. Thinking it made its way under it I stopped running and walked slowly in the direction I last saw it. The guide took the dog back to the buggy. I called him and told him I would continue paralleling the fence for a little bit and that I would meet him at the edge of the swamp. As I neared the end of the swamp and fence I saw something move in the brush. It was the hog I had been trailing. I eased upwind to it and saw an opportunity and took it. First shot was low on its snout. Dad center but low. Hog went down but not out. Next shot was a broad side shot thru the shoulders. The bullet went thru both shoulders and lodged under the offside hide. Just weighed the bullet. 273 gr. not bad. Bullet performed well. Cooking up the ribs tomorrow night.
Funniest part of the trip was when my boss wanted to know what was in the cooler. When I told him a hog he wanted to know why I didn't invite him along. But the funniest part was when he realized that I put a cooler onboard his brand new 8 million dollar jet with a dead hog in it. He said if it made a mess I was buying him a new jet. That was what was so funny.

The distance of the first shot was 17 yards. The second was 12 yards.

Great job Craig! You're keeping NC handgun hunters on the map. You still need to make it to one of our group hunts man 😉

Congrats, cfish!

I have always liked Deep Curl bullets.
Reminds me of the first Hog hunt I did in FL. many moons ago. Dogs cornered the hog, I got about 8 yrd. and pulled out my Colt 1911 .45 cal, with those evil Black Talons ammo. Shot the Hog right square between the eyes. We had gone during the week so the guide brought a few of his buddies with swamp Buggies and Air boats. They all look at me, looked at that hog and said son do you sleep with that thing?! I said Sir if you are going to carry a weapon you should be proficient with it!
