I have a friend who has just picked up an old 8" Dan Wesson .357 mag, and wants to mount a scope on it. It does not have a vented barrel shroud. Any suggestions?

Grendel, If your friends DW was vented he could have easily installed a no gunsmith clamp on mount, however, without the vent rib it looks like he will have to drill and tap for a base...You can see in the photo my 6" vented shroud that was drilled and tapped for a Weaver type base...

I sent my 8" barrel back to CZ and they put a nice looking, functional base on it. No problems with it.

Gren, Forgot to add that I sent a 44 shroud to the company, like Doc, and they drilled and tapped for a Weaver style base...scoped shroud at bottom of pic....

Go ahead and opt for the drill and tap mount, you'll be glad you did. I installed this Weigand on my 357 Mag.
