I just picked up a Ruger Blackhawk in 10MM Its one of the Buckeye with 6.5" barrel. I have a Glock 20 but wondering about load data for a revolver vs semi auto. I plan to use it to hunt deer this fall if I can find a decent load.

The loads for the Glock are fine for the Blackhawk. I am thinking that the Underwood ammo is going to serve you best. You have a few choices of Cast, Bonded jacketed, Jacketed, the XTP and the Defender stuff. Google it and get it.

What about reloading ?

Yes I believe that the revolver will hold a higher pressure round in theory... But the "10" is already quite a high pressure round(37,500!)

I would be real careful loading ammo that you can only fire safely in "one" of your pistols. The risk of mixing it up could hurt you if fired from the Glock.

I once fired an over pressure (Hornady Manual) 10mm load out of my Dan Wesson 1911.

The feed ramp of the auto leaves a small area of the shell case unsupported. This area of the case blew out, sending the pressure and gases down the magazine well.

Blew off both grip panels, cut my hand, destroyed the magazine, and the extractor and the firing pin!

Brass fired from high pressure autos will often have what is called a "Smiley" at the base of the cases where the cases swell into the feed-ramp area.

Glocks used to be known for ruining brass so it was not for re-sale after use in one. (not sure if the new gen Glocks are still known for this??
