This is just straight back recoil; on a heavy recoiling handgun I suspect the flex would be just as bad or worse as the gun movement is much more vicious and more pronounced.

I removed a TSOB mount from my FA`s 454 that was on for a number of years and the cross bolt on the ring that the turrent housing was against had imprinted its threads on the front of the groove in the aluminum TSOB mount. The cross bolt was as tight as the other three and this was the only area imprinted by the bolt thread....There had to be some tremendous force at work (as Greggs video shows)to cut those thread marks...
