Borrowed these photos from Gary Reeder`s web site that show their Cape buff taken recently with single shot handguns. Gary used one of his .45 caliber wildcats while Alcorn used a .416....Impressive trophies... Congratulations.... I`am sure you guys know who Gary Reeder is but may not know Alcorn.. I met him a couple of times at the Reeder hunt and can tell you he is a good guy who knows his stuff....

Reeder used his 450 GNR aka 450 Alaskan with a different shoulder and Alcorn used a 416 Taylor

Alcorn's buff looks an awful lot like a 50 incher!

Daggum, those would be some great cape buffs regardless of weapon.

I used my 416 Taylor Encore pistol. I loaded the ammo with 400gr. Swift A-frame for the first shot. The buff was quartering away. The Swift bullet took out the left shoulder, left lung, and diaphragm. He was down and could not get up, but not dead. I then put 3 400gr. Swift breakway solids in him for finishers. I had already load again and the guide stopped me. He was dead!

No, All plains game kill with 378 GNR (405 Win. necked down to .375). Used a 250gr. Swift A-frame at 2300fps.
