I've had several 6-hole bases (TSOB, EABCO) installed on Contender barrels and revolvers. For some reason I've never had them installed on any of my Encore barrels which have included 45-70, 300 Win Mag, 454 Casull and 500 S&W. I'm thinking about hunting with my 12" .454 Casull barrel again this year which has always worn a 2X Leupold. I'd like to put a 2-6X Bushnell Elite 3200 on it. The increased weight of the variable scope got me thinking about whether it would place more stress on the 4-screw base. Has anyone here had a 4-screw Encore base fail?
