Looking for some load data for my 7x30 imp. I am told that the 7 Int Rimmed is a good reference to use. Can anyone point to where I can find the info.

I have a 14" 7x30 Improved made by Virgin Valley many years ago. Not sure if it's identical to BB but probably close. I just used normal 7X30 Waters load data and worked up from there. I used H4895 and Varget as my two main powders with a 120 grain BT. It is a great shooter and cases last a long time after being formed.

Yes BB is the improved version. I am looking to shoot the 139 grain Horndays. I have shot some 120's BTips and they do shoot very well. It's just that I am afraid that the Btips will not expand. Have you hunted with before rwg375?

IN DOING A LITTLE "SPRING CLEANING" LOOKING FOR OLD IHMSA LOAD INFO I RAN ACROSS A HARD COVER COPY OF THE 1975 NONTE/JURRAS BOOK "HANGUN HUNTING" AND THE KELLY/JONES SOFT COVER BOOK "HUNTING FOR HANDGUNNERS", PLUS SOME OTHER OLDIES. ONE G&A 1978 SOFT COVER WAS BOLDLY ENTITLED "BIG-BORE HANDGUNS", WITH 44 MAG AND 454 CASULL BEING THE BIG BOYS, AND A LOT OF INFO ON LESSER "BIG BORES", e.g. 45 ACP, 41 MAG & 357 MAG, WOW, HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED.

As far as the Nosler B-T's expanding, the answer is yes. I was using 120gr B-T's in my 7-30 Waters and my 7mm JDJ and expansion is positive. I am running the 140gr B-T's in my 7mm JDJ #2 at 2300 fps and they expand as well. I have SSK data for their 7X30 JDJ which is an improved Waters, probably pretty close to your case capacity. They recommend reducing by 15 percent to begin your load work up. They also state the data is for their barrels only.

This info was emailed to me by SSK because I was looking for a comparison of the 7X30JDJ and the 7mm JDJ#2. I have had good luck with WW748 in both the 7-30 Waters and the 7mm JDJ, but with your increased case capacity you may be better off with something a little slower burning.

Bscott yes I have taken several deer with my 7x30 Improved. I actually have taken one with the 139 grain Hornady and a few with the 120 grain BT. Both work very well but I just prefer the BT. It is just more accurate in my barrel. Absolutely no problem with expansion on either bullet. All deer were shot within 125 yds. I found that H4895 and Varget both worked well in my barrel plus I had a good supply of both powders so that helped. I now use the 120 grain BT in my 16" 7-08 Encore and it is superb in it too.
