Well. I just bought my black bear tag for $5.10 for the 2018 season. For the first part which runs September 3rd to the 22nd you can use a revolver. No single shot or autoloader but specifically a revolver.
So. The plan is to take a couple of days off. I'll work Labor day and take one vacation day to have a solid two day hunt. Time is tough for me so that is about it.
Here in brushy Massachusetts you cannot use bait or dogs but you can use an electronic call. So I plan to set up a treestand and then the E caller with a bear cub in distress or something like it. I plan to use a lure such as beaver castor or some glandular lure to help out.
Hopefully the plan will work out.
Just curious. If you could not use bait or dogs, what method would you use for black bear ? Bear in mind glassing does not work as it is all heavy woods.
