Is the 30-30 in a 14 inch contender enough gun for shoulder shots on large hogs? If so, are there any recommendations on bullets, or recommend loads?
Thx

Yes. I like the barnes vortex 150?s but really any of the 170?s work well as that is what ive used. That round just plain works and tends not to overtax the bullets. Buffalo bore has what i think is a 190gr or 200gr that is a hammer on big game and has beennusednon bear and moose. The old ivory hunter wally johnson used the 30/30 for years on problem lions. Said he didnt kmow he was undergunned until he read it in the states. Youre good for hogs for sure. Place it well and its done!

I've seen a ton of hogs put down with the 300 blackout. So yeah your 30-30 is more than enough.
