I just recently found a good deal on a 44 special Charter Arms Bulldog. I've read several blogs here and elsewhere about these small big bores. This is the first dedicated 44 special revolver I have ever owned. I have a few 44 magnums and I reload for most every caliber I own.
I have a couple of questions. 1. Will the Bulldog handle "Skeeter's load" 240 grain cast SWC over 7.5 grains Unique? I'd rarely ever need that much, just getting an idea of its parameters. 2. I really like the looks of Ashley whiteline front sights, any ideas in replicating that appearance on the stainless front sight?
I've shot the revolver today and enjoy it. It printed, at 15 yards, around 4-5 inch groups at nearly on the point of aim with HSM 240 grain lead SWC Cowboy loads. I intend to carry it around the farm on walks and ramblings. Any thoughts would be appreciated. MK

I loaded for a Bulldog several years ago. As I remember, I gave up on heavy .44 Special loads before the gun did. Recoil was unpleasantly sharp in the little gun.

A friend suggested 185 grain SWC over 5.0 grains of Unique or Universal. He said the same thing about the heavier loads and the 20 ounce revolver. I just want an all round load to carry around the farm and plinking. MK

240gr Magnus SWCBB over 6.8grs Uneversal Clays. Not bad
to shoot and depending on your gun around 850fps.
