Went to the gun show last weekend, came home with a used contender. 14? 7-30 Waters,4X Leupold scope, rings,& bases. Included RCBS dies, 60 pieces of brass, and 180 Federal factory rds. $575. Couldn?t walk away from that deal!
Went to the range today. After less than ten rds had it sighted in at 50 yards. Time to shoot a group. 3 shots into half an inch. Think I found a keeper.
Now my question. I plan on working up loads for 100-120 grain bullets , using them to hunt coyotes. Think I will try Hornady 120 grain V-max first. Any recommendations for a powder? Is there a stand out powder for the 7-30?
Thx for listening.

I've had good luck with Win 748 using 120gr Nosler B-T's. That does sound like you got a very good deal.

Have had good results with 120 grain ballistic tips and near the max listed loads of Varget. This is my favorite in 15 inch Encore. MK

AA2460 is very accurate in mine using 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. I've also used Varget fire forming and it showed very good potential.

I HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS EXPERIENCE WITH THE 100gr SIERRA's AS I AM THINKING OF TRYING THEM IN A 15 INCH IN 7MM TCU ENCORE FOR HOGS.
