I just got a new Ruger super blackhawk Hunter and would like to mount a red dot using factory 30mm rings. Does anyone have an idea which red dots will fit between the rings without going to a weaver adapter. The current red dot I own has a housing for the adjustment knobs that is too long to fit between the stock rings.

the bushnell trophy works good for the money and is 30mm. I had the multi reticle and it worked great on my 45-70 bfr and on my 629

I just ordered the Mueller Optics red dot. It arrived in the mail today. After I get home I let you know if it fits with the factory rings. I was told it does but we'll see.

With Rugers standard 1.88" (1 7/8") between the rings, most of the 4 reticle prism housings won't fit, including my favored Bushnell Trophy at 2 1/8". But....The Ultra Dot 30 will drop in to your 30mm med rings with about 1/16" left over. The Ultra Dot is a little more expensive, but it is a good scope. I don't know how to post a picture in the forum, but if you send me one of those secrete private message things with an E-Mail address I can return a picture of my SBH with the Ultra Dot mounted
I'm not as good as I was.....
But I'm the best I'll ever be....

Huh?
I purchased a Weigand Scope Rail for my SBHH so that I could mount any red dot I wanted...My current red dot is a BSA but when that breaks I will be upgrading...I'd be interested to see how that Mueller fits between the stock rings.

The Mueller would not fit between the standard rings. It was close but a little big. You would have to stick with your scope rail to use it.

Have you looked into Ruger offset rings. To mount compact scopes on their long action bolt rifles, they have several heights in both 1" and 30mm. One of these might be just what the doctor ordered.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
