I just received a piss-off response to a question about the engraving Mr. Reeders company offers. I asked about size of coverage and patterns available. Basically he told me something about he did not have the time to be approved by me. Look somewhere else. Is this his normal approach to business? Or is he just a rude person? I found it quite interesting. I thanked him for the kind words and to consider him removed from any further contact from me. Not a person I would do business with.

I read his on-line newsletters also. The response caught me off-guard.

Guy is an [censored]. He was pissed off he had to build me a new Encore barrel because the lug weld was cracked before I ever fired it-- and I noticed it!

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Before he started doing his own hunts, Gary regularly attended the NAHHC hunts at the old YO Ranch. He always had a display table of his wares. I had a number of pleasant conversations with him at those events, and when I visited his shop while in AZ on an elk hunt some years ago. We never know what happens in a person's life to change their outlook, but I thought he was a decent guy in the conversations that I had with him.

I HAVE NOT HAD ANY COMMERCIAL DEALINGS WITH GARY REEDER, BUT BACK IN THE YO HANDGUN HUNT DAYS HE APPEARRED TO BE, AND ACTED LIKE, A GOOD GUY. THE RECENT NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THIS THREAD CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE.

"ADAPT OR DIE". I USE ALL CAPS, NOT BECAUSE I AM YELLING, BUT BECAUSE IT IS AN OLD HABIT FROM MY ARMY DAYS, PLUS IT IS EASIER TO TYPE AND READ.

I've got one of the Tombstone Classics in .45 Colt and really like it, I've talked to him on the phone several times about different things and he's been nothing but nice every time and he'll get my business again. If a person wants to spend 3-4 thousand with Bowen or Linebaugh on a Ruger Bisley go ahead if that's what works but I just can't do that. I think he does great work for the money myself.
