....trigger?

It's a single set trigger.

It can be used without setting it. The pull is right around 2# In the above picture the trigger is in the standard position. In the picture below the trigger has been pivoted forward thus setting it. There is a small tab that protrudes from the center of the shoe. The trigger now will break at about 6oz.

Here's a rear view with the trigger in the set position.

Here is a pic of the only markings on it.

I've not seen this before on an XP. Who makes / made it?

....That's a Canjar Trigger. Real popular in the 70's & 80's. A very fine trigger, could be had in weights down to as low 2 ounces.

LINK >>CANJAR TRIGGERS are still available

A friend of mine in Ohio had one he told me about. He bought it used so didn't know how it had been modified. I suspect he took it apart to see what made it tick. If it had been a fairly easy conversion I think he would have changed all of his XP's over. I don't know if Canjar made a trigger for the 600 series or not. Wish I was closer so as to have a good look at it myself.
Have you checked it to make sure it wouldn't trip unassisted if you follow my drift?

I had been told by a local that it was a Canjar but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

The gun will not fire with the trigger set unless the trigger shoe is touched.

When I came across this XP in my local shop I really didn't have any want for a XP with the small boltface, but after playing with the trigger I had to have it. Should make a nice varmint rig once I get the barrel rechambered to .223.
