Good luck to all the hunters. We got blasted with snow here yesterday, about 10? in most places. A friend said he took a ride up the mountain and seemed like it was knee deep!

I?ll be carrying my Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum. I use bear season to check my deer stands, but bears are in the area! I have a T/C Contender in 7-30 Waters and another barrel in .44 Magnum, but as I?ll be walking and not sitting, the SBH suits me better.

Good Luck!
This has been a different winter so far. Here in Missouri we have had Waaaaaaay Colder temperatures during deer season than normal. We got a 3" snow the other day. First that size in November since 1951 I believe. I sure hope this does not set that bar for the rest of the winter's weather.

Your revolver does sound like the better choice with that much snow on the ground. Have a Great Adventure, and be safe.

three times I came home empty handed after PA`s bear hunts, however, they are in your area and have a good feeling you will connect... be safe and best of luck....

I took the 460 revolver for a walk last Saturday but I saw no bear. I hung out at my favorite deer stand for awhile to make sure I have it set up for the deer opener this coming Monday. Did anyone out there get a PA bear with a handgun? I saw a news report that a 600+ lb bear was taken with a 357Mag. Did anyone else see that?

I read the story about the bear taken with a .357 Magnum. If I recall, they were pushing a tree farm and the bear popped out.

Awesome trophy.....and with a handgun too!! I have several .357's, but I'm taking my .44 Magnum for bear!

We put on several drives on Wednesday, but despite seeing some fresh tracks, we never kicked out any bears. Two guys in our group missed a couple of coyotes.

At least in the WMU where I hunt, I can still hunt black bear come Monday, along with buck. Supposed to rain on Monday....could be a soaker.

357 wouldn?t be high on my 5 yard bear encounter list, but glad it worked out!

I agree. I think that I would have preferred something a little more powerful as well. That guy has a good campfire story though for the rest of his life.
