Shot this button buck with my Encore with a 9" barrel in 357 mag. Used a 140 grain Barnes bullet. took a frontal shot with deer coming up a hill at 30 steps.

Shot went through the heart. He managed to run about 25 yards.

Shot this one the day before with an Ecore 20 gauge at 97 yards.

Congratulations
I am surprised that the 357 Magnum is not a 357 Maximum with the Encore Platform to work with.

Thanks for the replies. When I ordered my barrel from MGM I gave thought to the 357 Maximum. Since I already load for the 357 and have much ammo on hand I decided to just keep it standard. I have a 12" 44 barrel should I want more power.

Well done!

I love the .357 Mag! Wonderful cartridge in the TC platform.

Nice job capitalizing on the opportunities for both bucks.

I really like the looks of the 9" barrel on your Encore. I had MGM make me a 10" bull barrel in 44 Mag for mine, but if I could do it again, I would go with a 9" barrel. I like the Pirate Gun look.

I am getting a CVA Scout in 357 mag for Christmas. I am really looking forward to working on a hunting load for it.

Did you recover the 140 Barnes? Curious to see how it expanded. I have a couple friends who experienced minimal expansion and then one friend who keeps getting petals sheared off.

Unfortunately no recovery. I planned on going through the gut pile after I took my deer in, as I had to come back to pick up my hunting partner. On my way back he texted me to say he was done. It had rained and now was almost a whiteout with snow, and the field was really muddy so I picked him up and got out.
