I just wanted to post my experience with Reed's ammo. They are a small manufacturer of ammo and offer custom load service as well. I don't reload and do not need another hobby but can understand the value of reloading, especially for my favorite caliber, 45 Colt. I have a Freedom Arms 97 in 45 colt that I like to hunt with. The problem I run into is that the light loads are too light and the +P loads are generally too hot. A year ago I asked Reeds to develop a load for me that shoots a Hornady 250gr XTP at 1200fps out of a 6" barrel. About a month later I had four boxes and they are super. Moderate recoil, minimal muzzle blast ( many others produce a fireball out of the 5.5" barrel ) and velocity 1203fps. I just called to order another 4 boxes and they shipped within a week of order. I also asked if he has worked with Beartooth Bullets. He has not but will work up a load for their 280 gr WFN hard cast for my gun at 1100 fps. Cost is similar to other smaller manufacturer's and service outstanding. So, for those of us who don't yet reload I am happy to recommend this alternative. I have been very happy indeed.

IF THIS IS REED'S AMMO IN OKLAHOMA I CAN VOUCH FOR THE QUALITY OF HIS AMMO. HE IS ALSO MAYBE THE ONLY SOURCE AROUND FOR .222 BULLETS FOR THE 22 JET (AVAILABLE IN 30, 35 & 40 gr WEIGHTS).

"ADAPT OR DIE". I USE ALL CAPS, NOT BECAUSE I AM YELLING, BUT BECAUSE IT IS AN OLD HABIT FROM MY ARMY DAYS, PLUS IT IS EASIER TO TYPE AND READ.

While I haven't "bought" from them, the guys there were certainly influential in my own load development for a 41 special I put together a few years back. To my knowledge they're the one & only outfit loading commercially available 41spl ammunition and offered (much valued) pressure data to me from their-own development database which helped get me off & running with the caliber.. Very helpful and Very much appreciated.

So take my post as a positive plug on Reeds as well... I'da been literally shooting in the dark to get my loads dialed as smoothly as I did if it wasn't for their initial assistance with minimums, maximums and general-pressure brackets for that cartridge.

Just wanted to post an update. I sent an e-mail to Reeds to see if he could work up a nice light "plinking" load for my new FA 454 Casull. I was hoping for a 250gr bullet between 1200-1300 fps. A few weeks later and he said he had a load developed, avg 1246fps out of 6" test barrel. A few weeks later I had 4 boxes of 50 ea. No extra charge for load development, same or cheaper that off the shelf ammo. Shot most of one box, a single ragged hole at 20yds off hand in the indoor range. Speed out of my 7.5" FA avg 1306fps. Very fun to shoot. The 454 Casull does make for a nice little plinking pistol.
