Took this buck opening morning in NW Oklahoma. 125 yards from Tree stand. 150grn Accubond. 1/2 hole going in and 2" coming out with a lot of damage in between.
When I hit him, his nose hit the dirt and the antlers dug in and flipped him ass over head. I watched him a second, got the round out and looked down to load another and when I looked back at the deer, there was a deer standing right where the one had fallen. I thought, crap, he got up. I dialed up the 3x12 and found the one I had shot in some hay grazer. The other buck was looking at the dead one. Almost put him down.

Thanks guys. Our antler less season opened today for 10 days. I'm going after a flat head with the same pistol or maybe my Ruger Blackhawk Hunter I got from Mark Hampton.
Something will fall before the end of the year I hope.

Mike

Our Alternative Weapons Season starts in the morning here in Missouri. I will be using my old Contender chambered in 35 Bullberry with 200 grain Hornady FTX bullets this time.
I have already used my Buck Tag on a 8 point during the Regular Firearms season, so I will be looking for a doe with no fawns with her this time.

Good looking gun, and a nice buck.

Nice shot.
The .300 RSAUM and 7mm RSAUM are my favorites hunting cartridges. I also have three rifles in the .300 . My handloads make them a handful to shoot even in a rifle. I can't imagine them coming out of a pistol like that. (180 grn Nosler ballistic tip over 62.7 grn. IMR 4350 @ 3000 fps).

With a decent brake recoil is not bad at all.
With a great brake, it becomes even more tame to shoot.
Velocity in a SP will be about 300 fps slower than the same chambering with typical rifle length of 24-26 inches

Great shot Hawkeye and a great looking gun! I have really come to appreciate a center grip XP100 as a hunting gun this deer season. The center grip balance actually feels better to me than Contenders or scoped revolvers, which now feel front heavy. Thanks for sharing your hunt.
