Which ring height is needed to mount and clear a leupold 2.5-8x32, without lowering the rear sight? Would it a ruger high ring (#5) clear it or does it need the extra high (#6)? Thank you all!

I mounted a Leupold 2X on mine with the rings that came with the gun and had to lower the rear sight almost all the way down. The scope you plan on mounting has a much larger Eyepiece than the one I used so you "may" get away with the 5 but it might be close? A call to Ruger will most likely get you the actual height of the rings in question and may help with your decision.

My guess is Extra high
May call Ruger though.

Thanks for the advice! I scoured the internet for photos of similar setups. It seems like the extra high will clear the Nikon Force XR (which has a big ocular) with scope caps. I?m gonna chance it with the high #5 to see if I can eek by. Will report back
