One of two fallow deer taken with a Freedom Arms 454 shooting Winchester`s discontinued Supreme line of handgun ammunition loaded with a 260gr Partition... That 454 has taken a number of animals

I started shooting the .454 late last year ( Freedom Arms 83 with 7.5 inch barrel ) and I find it a wonderful gun to shoot. I shoot custom Reeds ammo mostly, Hornady 250gr xtp at 1300fps and I can plink all day with it. When I want to add a more powerful load, it is simple as there are so many available. I have not yet hunted with it but boy is it fun to shoot.

Very nice fallow James. Congrats yet again. If that .454 could talk, it would write a book for you.

VERY GOOD FALLOW. 454's ARE FANTASTIC DEER GUNS.

Congratulations on a nice fallow! I love my FA 454, got interested in it back in the 90's, when I read Phil Johnston's book Successful Handgun Hunting and he took a nice brown bear with one. Mine has a 7.5" bbl. and topped with a 2x Leupold. When I purchased it new for $1700 in '96, everyone thought I was crazy until they saw how accurate it is. My favorite load is 31.5gr H-110 under a 305gr BRP hardcast. Fortunately I had a good supply of those bullets. Unfortunately, BRP is gone and I'm about out and going to have to find a new pet load.

Very nice fallow, James. Congratulations!

If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.

AS PRETTY A DEER AS A FALLOW BUCK CAN BE, THEY ARE AWFULLY DIFFICULT TO PRESENT WELL WHEN MOUNTED. TYPICAL WHITETAIL PRESENTATIOINS WILL DISAPPOINT IN A FALLOW MOUNT. IF YOU WANT TO MOUNT A FALLOW BUCK, GET SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP AND STUDY THE OPTIONS BEFORE YOU DECIDE. BTW FALLOW VENISON IS PDG TOO.
