Well, you guys did it. After rereading some of this season's posts about hunting with the 327, I decided I had to join the club. I've placed an order for an MGM Encore barrel. Can't wait for it to get here.

That will be a tackdriver, which barrel length did you order Chance?

A 327 ENCORE, THAT MAY BE A FIRST, IT SHUD HAVE NEGLIGIBLE RECOIL AND INCREDIBLE BALLISTICS. IF YOU TOP END THE LOADS I AM NOT SURE THERE ARE PISTOL BULLETS OUT THERE UP TO THE TASK.

I've been talking with Jack about building a 327 Federal out of a Ruger Super Blackhawk. He's looking in to it. Hope to have it done by this fall.

Welcome to the club! I have 2 and they have quickly become two of the most fired handguns in the rotation because of its outstanding versatility, with much of that being my wife shooting up all my 32 s&w long reloads.

What bore diameter will your barrel be? I know many 32/20 barrels have a .308 bore instead of .312 in order to utilize rifle bullets.
I wonder if the various .310 123 grain bullets intended for the 7.62?39 could be loaded successfully in a single shot .327 Federal. The shank behind the cannelure appears short enough to not interfere with case capacity.

I went with 12?. Figured that would allow me to squeeze about as much performance out of the cartridge as possible while not being overly cumbersome. I?m rather fond of my 221 Fireball in that length.

They had two options: .308? and .311?. I went with .311 so I could use 32 caliber pistol bullets.

I?m planning on trying out the 100 grain XTP. I would have preferred a Barnes XPB, but there aren?t any in that caliber. I?ll do some testing and see if I think they?ll work.

Seems like a good cartridge, but I can do the same with a 357 and the shame is that there are not good bullets out there for this round.
I do not understand the niche for this caliber.
I do a lot with my 22 and will jump to the 357 next.

It was designed as a self-defense round for revolvers. It's potent, but due to its size you can fit more rounds in a cylinder. True, the 357 is definitely a more capable round, especially in a hunting handgun, but that's not to say the 327 doesn't have a place among our hunting handguns. That's what I want to test - just how capable of a hunting round it is.
