...which one is your favorite? You have a fire, and only time to grab one gun. What do you grab?

I'm taking my XP100 in .284 Winchester. I have more confidence in that gun than I do my pastor. If the fire is so bad I can't get to the back room where that XP is, I'm grabbing my .54 flintlock.

Oh, and if you try to grab more than one, they all spontaneously combust and you loose them all -- so no cheating!!!

RT: MY FAVORITE WUD BE A 5 1/2 INCH CUSTOMIZED RUGER BISLEY IN 45 COLT, 475L OR PERHAPS A DUAL CYLINDER 475L/480R THAT IS ON THE WAY, BUT MOST LIKELY MIGHT BE A "NIMROD" STYLE BISLEY, LONG CYLINDER, 5 SHOT, IN 45 COLT.

At one time , I would have said my 7 SAUM XP (That throat is now totally cooked, and awaiting a new tube.
Previous to that, it would have been my one and only XP at the time in 284 Winchester.
Now it would be the 7 Dakota XP-100. Over kill for the smaller stuff, but it will do it all.

I suspect it will be my .460 BFR, but the jury is out until I do some blood letting with it.

Tough call for me. Functional vs nostalgic. Functional would probably be my newest 460 BFR. Nostalgic would be my grandpas military issue 1911 that he carried in the Korean War.

My Sweet 14 44 mag contender barrel on my easy open frame with the 2x Leupold. Would be my go to for woods hunting.

A really tough choice since I am really fond of all my specialty pistols and revolvers. But , if I could only save one it would have to be my H-S Precision VP-100 7 saum pistol setting in a McMillian stock bedded by Steve Roe at Apache Machine and Custom.

Well, my pastor is also my dad! I've joked with him about it many times concerning this gun!

Knowing that information, makes that statement even more precious.

my first thought was my single six. we have traveled too many miles and years together to be left behind. then i think of my grandmothers Win. M94 32spl. its been though 2 house fires, with it blackened and charred stock it still shoots right where i want the round to go, don't know that i could leave it for a 3rd fire.

If I had to grab just one and it was for my survival, I would have to get my FA83 454 Casull.

The one I had the most ammunition loaded for is the one I would grab.

This is a tough decision. I couldn't choose between the S&W Model 10 my deceased father carried as a Sheriff, or the Ruger Bisley 45 given to me by my brother. Or maybe it would be the first handgun I fired as a kid, a Colt Police Positive 22 WRF. I can't decide but thanks to the OP for making me think about the guns I value most.

Yeah, that was my whole point. Obviously it's a hypothetical situation. But made me really think about which ones are practical, what's fun, and what's sentimental.

I decided to go with practical for my choice. It just happens to be a lot of fun too!

Since you said "gun" and not "Handgun" I would grab the single shot Iver Johnson my grandfather and great grandfather used to feed the families - it is so worn that they carried a steel ball bearing to roll down the barrel to "eject" the shell. The ball bearing got lost before I got my hands on it. Even in handguns I would go nostalgia and grab the high standard .22 revolver I got from Dad! Would be tough call if I had his old Model 10 in hand.

First Handgun Deer: ~1982 8" S&W .38Spl
SW 7.5" 686-7 with Matchdot II
SBHH .45LC 7.5"
Contender G2 .35-30/30 (Bellm), .22LR, .22 Hornet, 25-35
Glock 40 10mm; G21 Poly80 w/ 9 inch barrel (in work)

I would have to grab my Custom Remington 700 in 338 Lapua with Accuracy International 2.0 Stock and Leupold MK IV M1 16X TMR Scope. Pure $$$$$ invested, not a favorite.

Handguns would be a rough choice. I shoot my 6" GP100 (38 Special/357)in handgun match's, and use it the most of all my handguns. My other ICORE/Steel Challenge revolver is a Power Custom Combat 4" 686-5 S&W. I also shoot my S&W 617 a great deal in Rimfire Division and Steel Challenge.

Hunting Handguns is another rough choice. I have owned Contenders since the early 1990's, and I shoot my 22 LR Super 14 barrels a lot for trigger time. I have probably fired 300 rounds of 22 LR this week breaking clay birds at 100 yards, then breaking the chips. I really like my 35 Bullberry 14" to hunt with also. But headed to the stand to hunt deer, I would tend to grab my Encore as a first choice even though it is a hair heavy. Then which barrel to grab, 260 Rem, 7.62X 54R or 356 Winchester????

Way to many different guns that I enjoy shooting a lot.

Glad I don't have to make that decision, but if I did I would go with my 10" FA in 454. It's not my favorite gun, but it's the one I know will get the job done anywhere with any animal in the Northwest. The gun is insanely accurate.

I have to go with sentiment on this one. My grandfathers low wall winder musket. 22 short. The J2.5 scope setting on it was handed to him by his best friend Bill Weaver. If you offered me 5,000,000.00 for it right now I would have to refuse so its the first gun I grab.
