Calling all 475 Linebaugh and 480 Ruger shooters.

1) How many of you cast your own bullets for either cartridge?

2) How many of you wold be interested in a 345 grain SWC HP/GC mold for a super accurate deer bullet?

I have asked Bruce from Montana Bullet Works to send Al Nelson of NOE molds samples of a plain base and gas checked 345 grain LBT SWC in order to take measurements from these 2 bullets.

From there Al Nelson will be posting the bullet designs/dimensions on the NOE forum group discussion as a potential group buy.

Just need 9 other 475/480 shooters committed to purchasing a mold of their choice and Al will tool up for the project.

Mold can be had in 2, 3, 4 or 5 cavity in either aluminum or brass.

2 & 4 cavity molds can be split. 1gc/1pb or 2gc/2pb with or without hollow point option. I am wanting a 3 cavity gc/hp mold that should cast around 325 grains when using hollow point pins.

Basically, I don?t care for the hard cast bullets when shooting whitetail deer and antelope with a big bore revolver.

How many here would be interested?

If it was for .512 guns I?d be all over it,....

Montana bullet works offers a 460 grain LBT SWC Gc & PB bullet.

All I would need to do is ask Bruce to send Al Nelson a couple of samples to be put on NOE Forum discussion board.

Mr.Bisley, At one time there were some serious cast bullet only people here but today I don`t know if you will find nine others for a group buy on the molds. I have to say that when everything is correct with a good cast bullet and the handgun you`ll shoot it from will perform as good as any.... Some friends made some .475 hollow point 388gr. bullets that worked perfectly on a boar....

I cast .476 and .512, but have no interest in hollow point bullets in either revolver. Best of luck with your group buy.

JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION, BUT A HP ON A 475 BULLET IS A OXYMORON, BUT, ALTHOUGH I AM NOT A CASTER ANYMORE, I CAN UNDERSTAND THE "NEED" TO WANT TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

I am a cast shooter of the 480 Ruger. However I have already designed, and had built a 375 Grain WFNGC Bullet Mold for my 480 Rugers that I am very happy with.

I shoot a 480 and I don't know how you can improve on Montana's 375 grain.

They do work well and just plain and simply do more damage. Dick makes a good bullet.

I shoot a 385 grain Hornady Great Plains bullet from my 50 caliber CVA Optima V2 muzzle loader pistol that is hollow point and hollow base. Powder charge is 90 grains of Blackhorn 209 powder. Very similar to a 500 Linebaugh. How is that an oxymoron to shoot a bullet designed for average sized game animals?

A .475 CALIBER BULLET STARTS OUT BIG AND YES YOU CAN MAKE THEM GET BIGGER WITH A HP AND A PROPER ALLOY, BUT MY PERSONAL PREFERENCE IS BULLET INTEGRITY.

I'd love to get in on this for my 475L, but I'm not casting yet. I'd want a little more weight though, something closer to 400. Tracker runs a 390-400 grain HP out of his 480, and he gets very good expansion, and a bullet going out the other side.

Marshal Stanton provided me samples of this bullet. I intend to send sample to Al Nelson at NOE molds and create CAD drawing. From there it will posted under the discussion section of NOE forum. All we need is 9 other committed buyers since I?m already in for the long haul.

I'm shooting the Montana bullet works 420 in my 475L at the moment. Send me a PM when you get the drawings. I'd be interested in a 2 cavity brass if available. It will be waiting for me when I get the rest of my casting equipment up and running.

Always true. I do vasilate back and forth but if bullet integrity is key then monometal is the way. Anyway. Im clouding the issue.

That bullet that we make is designed so that if the nose does happen to shear it still weighs about 300 grs & that's a lot of bullet weight going forward. But with this Miha bullet it's easy to change pins & make it a solid that comes out about 410 gr depending on alloy. We've had exits on mature Bison with HP's.
The trick, if you want to call it that is to drive it the correct velocity for the alloy you're using when shooting HP's. Over drive them & you can make them fail. Mark, sent you a PM.

James I wish I could recover a bullet like the one in the picture. My load punches on through and keeps on trucking . Going to have to find a giant hog at distance to catch the magic bullet.
