I don't have much thoughts on optics. I've seen others use the ultradot with success on large bore handguns. I've always been a scope guy myself. I have a 2x swift on my 475, but it is going to be replaced with a Matchdot within the next few weeks.

I don't think you can go wrong with an ultra dot. I did look through a Sig Romeo4H the other day and really liked it. Small foot print, clear optics. For $440 it should be though.

Edit- I'll add this, I had a $89 primary arms on this weapon for a little while and it was great. After 75 full power rounds, it was DONE. Not the optic itself, but the cheap flimsy mount. If you start running 420's at 13-1400, use a quality mount/rings. That cheap primary arms would still be on there if it wasn't for the crappy mounting system.

I have a 475L BFR with an ultra dot 30mm and love it. The red dot sight is holding up very well. The only problem I have had in four years was I had to tighten the knob that holds the battery in place. Actually, it kind of alerts you because the red dot goes out. I don't own any of the 500's but, I don't believe you can get a better hunting revolver! JMHO!

I have a BFR in 500JRH with an Ultradot as well. Initially, the Ultradot wouldn't hold zero and I had to send it back for repair after just a couple of rounds. ( No charge and they said the issue was the return spring) Since then, no issues. As always, the gun shoots better than I do. BFR's are great guns for the money.

I have been very pleased with my MatchDot as well. I have had it on my 44mag Bis Hunter for about 10 years and after thousands of rounds it has not moved....i.e. I can't ever remember having to rezero it other than when I have changed loads.

I have a BFR in 500JRH on the way and I am thinking of giving a Holosun 507 green dot a try. I really like the idea of a green dot and reticle, but I am a bit unsure if the Holosun will hold up to such a big boomer. If it can't handle the JRH then it will get replaced with either a DPP or an Ultradot L/T.

Congratulations on your BFR!! Mine just came in, I ordered the 500 Linebaugh, planning on putting the Ultradot Matchdot II on it. Does anyone have any loads to share? I just got in 435gr WFN from Cast Performance...Good luck with it!

9 grains of Trail Boss is I nice mild load @800 FPS.

11 to 12 grains of Titegroup @1080 fps.
Even though Titegroup is not position sensitive, I still like using a tiny tuft of Dacron to hold the powder charge in place. Dacron also act like a gas check reducing and flame cutting of the bullet base.
