My son shot his first 40 at Crittenden Ky. last Sunday. He used his 14 in scoped Contender in UAS [unlimited any sight],the old man shot a 39 [@#&^%$*&^ turkey]. Got my first 40 last year. And yeah the old man is proud of him. Of course it was the fine shot calling the old man did that made it all possiable! If you have a club anywhere near you get out and try it. From .22 to big bore shooting steel is always fun.

"ADAPT OR DIE". I USE ALL CAPS, NOT BECAUSE I AM YELLING, BUT BECAUSE IT IS AN OLD HABIT FROM MY ARMY DAYS, PLUS IT IS EASIER TO TYPE AND READ.

Congrats to your boy! How old is your son? I love shooting steel, but have never played that game.

I cherish my memories of IHMSA and NRA silhouette shooting. Those were exciting times ....

Congratulations to the young shooter! And to the proud PaPa.
It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

I have nothing but good things to say about the people I have met at my local IHMSA matches. I also want to encourage anyone who can to attend a match, and enjoy the company of other shooters interested in handgun accuracy. The matches are more like a shared challenge than a competition.

It really is a fun and challenging sport with dedicated shooters who love to shoot and compete. It is not near as big as it once was so the ones who still shoot do it for the love of the sport and shooting in general. Simple rules and lots of classes so give it a try to support the clubs that still have matches. Open sights, scoped, big bore,or .22 standing or freestyle, pick your poison .
