I am considering the option of having my Ruger SBH 480 Bisley re-barreled. The factory barrel isn?t very kind to cast lead ammo no matter what combination I run through it.

However, my new BFR 475 Linebaugh loves cast lead loads.

With that being said can anyone recommend a gunsmith who I could talk to about doing a conversion?

Question #2

Would I be better off just having a another barrel in 480 Ruger?

Question #3

Can my current cylinder be machined to a bigger cartridge? 500 JRH?

Thanks

Look into fire lapping.

In 95% of the cases, the proper application of this process will cure barrels that lead. It certainly has for all of the firearms I have done it with.

The added benefit is that many times it will also increase accuracy.
