I mentioned in another post my son is buying my .44 mag and I knew where there was a 5 1/2 in .44 special flattop. It followed me home. Had some very light patina[rust] starting on the barrel and front sight which cleaned right off. Was the worst Ruger I have ever taken apart, who ever threaded those screw holes should be flogged. Polished, cleaned and tweaked everything that needed it and now have a clean smooth trigger. First loads were some cast 245 gr swc at 1000-1100, only 10 shots so far on a creek rock. It will do! Now need to make another holster.Would like to add a Super hammer and narrow the front sight a bit.

GUN FUN, KEEPS US GOING. LOOKS LIKE YOU WILL ENJOY THIS ONE.
"ADAPT OR DIE". I USE ALL CAPS, NOT BECAUSE I AM YELLING, BUT BECAUSE IT IS AN OLD HABIT FROM MY ARMY DAYS, PLUS IT IS EASIER TO TYPE AND READ.

I've got the 4.62" version. It goes everywhere with me. The throats are all over the place, (.428-.430) but it's damn accurate. I usually feed it a 260 wfn in front of a good amount of 2400 or a 240 Keith and unique.

Shot the .44 special some today and it will soon get a set of Pachmayers,as I don't get along with wood grips at all. Had the 6 1/2 in .41 and my 4 5/8th .45 colt along too. With 17 gr of 2400 and a 245 gr swc in the 44, 17 gr of 2400 and a 210 gr Hp in the 41, and 20 gr of 2400 and a 250 gr hp in the .45 colt. The colt has the softest feeling recoil impulse of the 3 to me. Shot at 25 yds and all are keepers. Like them all but the .45 COLT will always be # 1 for me. Found a Super Black Hawk hammer for the .44 yesterday.Leather work comes next.
