Just wondering what the dirt on the M44 is? Seems pretty affordable and I can't find anyone saying anything bad about them.seeing as im considering buying another revolver since some lowly individuals can't stop stealing things.... I thought I'd ask the most knowledgeable group of individuals I know on such matters before I really started looking at them

The Taurus Model 44 was my first revolver. Mine was blued and I had for about 2 years before I traded it in to take some money off of a single shot build for my wife. Very accurate and kicked like a gnat..great and reliable in my opinion

I have had nothing but good luck with Taurus .357 and .44 revolvers.

Guess that's all I really need to know lol I only have personal experience with rugers but that's going to be a bit out of my price range.... A 44 special go would be ok but I can only find 4 inch barrel ones and we have a 5 inch minimum on barrel length in ohio

I have Raging Bulls in .41 Mag., .454, and .500 S&W. All shoot great. Never a problem with any of them. Killed deer a groundhogs out to 125 yds. with the .41, lots of deer with the .454, and a 8' brown bear at 129 yds. with 1 shot and a 375 gr. X. Never handled any of the M44. I have no problems with the quality and accuracy of the RBs.

I don't know... if ya look around on the interweb long enough you soon will "KNOW" that unless it is a FA, Colt, or S&W it's junk. Semi or wheelgun. God takes care of fools and drunks, even though I dont drink I have NEVER had any trouble with any Taurus product, nor has anyone that i personally know. lucky I guess.

I have quite a few Taurus revolvers, ranging from 17 HMR to 454 C; however, I do not have a model M44. I had issue with only one, a .357 Tracker, the chambers had not been finished reamed. Returned it to Taurus, had it back in several weeks, repairs completed correctly. In my personal experience, a lot of "bang for the buck."

The m44 is pretty comparable to the tracker from what I read .... I'm not interested in a packing gun so the M44 should be a little better for me. And of course we have a 5" minimum on barrel length even though 38 special is "technically" legal a 4 5/8 Blackhawk in 44 mag wouldn't be.... Such Intelligent laws ... Better than the 6 inch law we used to have at least. The M44 sounds more like a winner the more people chip in. Of course I came here to ask cause very few people here will complain about 44 mag loads and may actually have shot the gun enough to really know. If I end up having to go with a new gun it will most likely be a M44 still hoping for a great deal on a SBH Hunter though. Thanks everyone.

Friend of mine has used one exclusively to hunt deer in Ohio and PA for the last 20 years. His is a longer barreled version (8"?) with an UltraDot mounted on it. Very successful and never had any issues with the gun.
