Have been cutting up deer meat from a deer I took Sat. morning. Still have a ham & shoulder to go but its on ice and can wait till tomorrow. Blood Thirsty is my wife's M.Z. gun. A 54 cal Knight Wolverine weighing maybe 7 # loaded with 90 gr. of 3FFF and a 250 gr XTP and 4x scope. Being light it has a robust recoil and with the scope set for her is a bit short for me. That little @#%$^ will draw BLOOD on both ends [hence the name] and Will bite the hand that feeds it ,or his nose. The eyes aren't black but the nose is a nice shade of purple, turning to yellow color. I'm sure the scab on the bridge will fall off sometime soon. A few pieces of back strap fell off the cutting board into a baggie of KY Kernel seasoned flour and went straight into hot oil. Don't get much better than that! So that's my tale of BLOOD THIRSTY and how she got her name.

Funny,....my fianc? names her favorite guns as well. Her most fav, is her Tikka which she named ?magic?. I gave her one of my Grendel?s and she used it for the first time last week. She made a tough shot in low light using night vision and instantly decided she likes it almost as well. But it needs a name,.....we had a bunch of Scandinavian friends over and the name ?Valkyrie? was mentioned. Then in looking at Wikipedia and seeing that the Valkyrie were the ?choosers of the slain?. That name seemed appropriate.

Reminds me of a story from years ago. Went by the local taxidermist/meat processor and was listening to all the tales being told. 3 of the guys there held a lease within earshot of the shop. The owner asked them, "Which one of you shot this morning?" ... to which all 3 responded, "Wasn't me!". The last guy that answered had a bloody scope ring eye!!
Never saw that fellow again ....

I had a Remington 870 with a cantilever barrel and Simmons 1.5 x 5 scope that needed a little longer eye relief on it that would do the same thing. Only thing that saved me was the prescription goggles I was wearing at the time. They took the brunt. No cut but a nice bruise.

One of the hazards of using a gun set up for someone else, and I'm a slow learner apparently. Darn thing is still sore, but the colors are getting nice,at least the headache has gone away.

No one wants to hear a grown man cry. I hazard to guess that most who have done this long enough to earn our gray hair have a scar or two above the eye or on the nose. If it keeps someone else from making the same mistake by reading this GOOD DEAL, cause THAT HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
