I put a Deltapoint and Raptor Mount on my 7.5? Blackhawk in 45 Colt. What hipsters are y?all using for this set-up? Thought about getting older Ebay holster and cutting the leather out to fit. Input?

If I had a hipster at my disposal, I'd just have them carry the gun and hand it to me when I wanted it.

Simply rugged will make you a holster that will fit perfectly. I had one made for a 41 mag with a reflex sight and it came out great. I would post a picture if I could figure out how.

Barranti leather will make you one as well - but there will be a wait. If you need one quickly, Freedom Arms makes them with the cut-outs for a reflex sight - strong side and cross draw.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

A cheap and effective way is to buy a Uncle Mike's synthetic holster for your gun. Cut the top strap enough so your gun will fit. Buy imitation leather at a fabric store. Take the gun to a seamstress and have her sew a hood over the scope, etc., closed on the objective end. It ain't pretty, but is very inexpensive, highly functional, and extremely rugged.
I've done this for all my revolvers with scopes and Ultra Dots. My oldest ones are over 15 yrs. This is way cheaper than buying a custom leather for each gun. They pack much better on airline flights. I've never had a gun dropped or damaged from this set up.

I chose a leather holster from TonyU Leathergood for only $32.39 shipped from Esty. The holster is a little rough but made of heavy leather and put together reasonably well, even has a leather patch sewn over the back of the snap to keep it from rubbing the trigger guard. I cut out a slot for the sight, sanded all the rough edges, and burnished them a little. I did the same thing to an Uncle Mike holster but the plastic strap on the back split in less than a year.

TEEP: YEARS AGO I PUT UNCLE MIKE's HOLSTERS ON MY "DO NOT BUY" LIST BECAUSE THE PLASTIC STRAP ON THE BACK BREAKS SOONER THAN LATER. UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO REPLACE IT WITH SOME GOOD WEBBING, SOONER THAN LATER YOU WILL BE SORRY.

HAVING SAID THIS, I DO NOT KNOW IF THE PLASTIC STRAPS ARE OF BETTER QUALITY THESE DAYS.

Rey, all the straps on my Uncle Mike's are cloth/webbing. Never broke or come loose.

DOC: ON THE UNCLE MIKE HOLSTERS AND AMMO CARRIERS I HAVE HAD THEY SEWED A PIECE OF PLASTIC ON THE BACKSIDE TO MAKE THE LOOP THE BELT GOES THRU, IT IS THAT PLASTIC THAT DOES NOT HOLD UP. ON THE AMMO CARRIERS I REPLACED THE PLASTIC WITH SOME GOOD WEBBING, NO PROBLEMS SINCE.

45MAN: I've put Uncle Mike items on my don't buy list also. There was less than 1/4" still holding the belt loop. Had my 686 with the Vortex Venom hit the rocks I would not have been a happy hunter.

Rey, I guess I'm the weird one of the bunch here. Never had problem one for 20+ years of use with my scoped revolvers in my hooded holsters. The backing you're talking about has never given me problem. I've carried a RSB .454 with Bushnell 2-6 scope since they came out. Never a problem with it. All the sewing is still in place.
Even carried a scoped 8" Dan Wesson in one. No problems. That's a heavy gun.
I'll keep using mine. No competition from me for leather holsters.
