Review of Starlines new 270 Win Brass:

I purchased factory direct their bulk packed 250 count box, these will be used to form my 06 series JDJ cartridges. I?ve only fire-formed two trial cases which formed beautifully to 280 JDJ, case length of 2.490" and internal case capacity of 75.8 grains of water.

Very glad to see Starline continue to extend their brass offerings!

Arrives loose boxed in a large plastic bag.
Case necks do show some dents which is common with bulk packaged brass. Full length resizing would be recommended to square the case prior to loading.
Primer hole is very uniform and appears to be clear of burrs.

I weighted 25 randomly chosen cases from the box

Average case weight 189.8 grains
High weight 194.0 grains
Low weight 188.6 grains
Extreme spread of 5.4 grains
Case length 2.530"
Case neck thickness .015"

When compared to other brands:
Same sampling of 25 random cases

Hornady 270 Win bulk packaged
Package similar to Startline as well as the need to full length resize.
Average case weight 171.9 grains
High weight 175.4 grains
Low weight 167.9 grains
Extreme spread of 7.5 grains
Case length 2.537"
Case neck thickness .015"

Remington 280 bulk packaged
Arrives loose in a small box, does require full length resizing to square up the case
Average case weight 196.0
High weight 196.8
Low weight 194.3
Extreme spread of 2.5 grains
Case length 2.530"
Case neck thickness .015"

Norma 280 25 count arrives individual packed in foam
These you could probably load directly from the box
Average case weight 195.1 grains
High weight 195.7
Low weight 194.4
Extreme spread of 1.3 grains
Case length 2.530"
Case neck thickness .016"

Good shooting
D
