So I went to a Christmas party the other evening, and my friend introduced me to the wonderful world of reloading.

I loaded up 100 rounds of 44 magnum with 300 grain XTP bullets.

I believe he has created a monster.

Got out yesterday and made a 100 yard range and shot the first reloads I just made with my friend. Going to reload some more today!

Yep, it's addictive. If you think you've spent money on hobbies in the past, just wait...

I really really enjoy it. Lots of gadgets you can add to help the process along.

You need a good rest to sit on that board.

This is truth.

I enjoy it as part of the hobby when I can?t get out to shoot. I?m loading some .38spl Trailboss loads right now just for giggles

Good to see that you've crossed over to the dark side. Now you'll want to reload for every gun you have.

Yep! Lack of ammo will no longer hold you back.

Learning to reload is probably the most beneficial thing I?ve ever done involved with hunting. You?ll feel the same I?ll be willing to bet.

Reloading isn't quite as much fun as shooting, but it's real close. So many load options, and so little time.

I've been reloading for a couple of centuries. Best thing I ever found for stress relief and accurate ammo.

The bug has bitten so a word of caution. What you need to reload is fairly simple .First at least one, two is better, reloading manual, WELL READ ,then READ IT AGAIN!
A press, dies with shell holder, a scale, brass, bullets, primers, powder, loading block, case lube, A book to record loads in and you should always write them down, a place to mount the press and that's really it . A well lit, quiet place away from distractions is always good.
. There are lots of other widgets and gadgets you can get later but you really don't need them yet. these will get you started down the path. Go slow , check everything twice, enjoy!!!!!

Thanks for the advice and cautions guys. I've been collecting reloading supplies over the years, but still added a bunch of goodies to my Midway USA cart. I reloaded 100 rounds of 44 Mag yesterday, and prepped another 300 cases too. So far I love it, and can't wait to start loading 45 acp and 45 Super.

Anyone have a good recipe for 45 Super using
Cast Performance Bullets 45 Caliber (452 Diameter) 265 Grain Lead Wide Flat Nose Gas Check?

The best $35 I?ve spent when it comes to reloading is the online subscription to loaddata.com.

It will definitely open some doors to calibers you otherwise wouldn't have used.

Have fun!

But take everything with a grain of salt! Trust but verify and cross reference potential loads and velocities between multiple manuals when at all possible and BE SAFE!
I've got 5 or 6 full reloading manuals along many cartridge specific compendiums and several gun specific (TC Contender) compendiums.
Many manufacturers will have online sources of data for their powers or their bullets. These may be updated more frequently if we are lucky.

If you really get into reloading, a chronograph is a great tool that lets you compare expected results to actual results as another safety check. QuickLoad is another useful tool if you really want to get into it.

In the end, every gun is a little different from every other one and results will always vary. A safe load in one gun may not be a safe load in another gun.

you'll find it almost as fun as shooting and a whole lot quieter! It will give you a sense of freedom like when you first got your drivers license!

Initial cost is a little bit, but the benefits definitely outweigh the cost. Have fun be safe.
