I had a once in a life time hunt, at least for me, in South Africa for plains game in the works for this summer, but it has been covidified! Now that I?m going to have to wait another year or so to hunt Africa, I?d like to put a notch in my bucket list. I?ve always wanted to hunt javelina in Texas, but have yet to do so. In the past I?d looked at various hunts available on the enter-web, but most seemed to want me to sell a kidney or the likes! Do any of you gentlemen here have any suggestions that would not require me spending my Africa hunt money? I?m not looking for a 5 star resort, just a legit place with good opportunity to take one or two.

Check out Steve Jones, Back Country Hunts. I did a Carmen Mtn. whitetail last year. Saw lots of javelina, aoudads, some mulies, some elk. He's 3+ hours SE of ElPaso.
Took the wife, not a outdoorsy person, stayed in old bunkhouses with sleeping bags on cots. Had a great cook. Enormous amount of land. Wife actually liked it. Surprised the crap out of me.
He & all the guides know the country quite well.

Kim... Its funny you posted this because I was planning on going to Texas with a friend for a javalina/bobcat hunt (when I got my tax return) that was cancelled for the same reason as your hunt. I don`t know when I will be able to plan another.

I killed one around San Angelo with my recurve. Public land, unfortunately no handgun hunting allowed. Texas hunting is big money....try to find a day hunt in deep South Texas. It should not be that expensive..unless you're wanting to deer hunt.

The least expensive hunts in Texas will be DIY day hunts. To find these ranchers, contact local chamber of commerce offices in the areas you wish to hunt. Remember Texas is huge.. lots of hunting opportunity exists. But so does getting ripped off. Try to find a rancher instead of a guide service. Most ranches that offer day hunts will have blinds and feeders set up.

You should get the Parks & Wildlife Outdoor Annual which has all of the hunting regulations. Some counties have seasons for javelina and some do not.
