I've always said if you live and hunt long enough you can accomplish some pretty cool stuff. Right now I'm in the middle of deer season-crop damage permits. This gives me the chance to use/test many of my handguns. So far, I've used 6mmAI, .250 Sav. AI, .338 Mag. JDJ, .416 Taylor, .500 S&W Raging Bull, 6.5/.284 XP & Encore.
The grass is pretty high around the cornfields and a few deer
have gotten away. I don't like to waste meat, so I rethought my gun choice.
I switched to my .375/.284 XP. I've taken a 5000# hippo, Alaska moose, Shiras moose, and eland, all with one shot. Figured it would work OK on deer. I was right. I've taken 27 with it. Exactly 2 ran a few yards. The rest dropped. The
most memorable is this one.

Cleaned her in 6 1/2 minutes, my usual time. Gave the meat to older folks that can't hunt or needy people. So far, 45 deer this summer have put a smile on a few faces.
What a day, what a year, what a life!
