Been trying to find a accurate hunting load for my RSBHH. I have tried a few. The most accurate so far is 12.0gr of Blue dot powder beging a 240gr soft point. Would this be a good load to hunt with?

18.5 of 2400 over a 240 XTP CCI 350 primer.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I'm not a fan of Blue Dot, but if it is accurate in your gun I'm pretty sure it will work. I'm using 12.0 grains Longshot with a Hornady 240 grain XTP and it's worked on a small pig, and several Whitetail deer with no problems. My velocity out of a 6 1/2 inch S&W 629 is a hair over 1200 fps, and I would think your load of Blue Dot should be doing very close to that. Give it a go and tell us all about it. Don't forget the pictures. We like pictures of dead animals.

I've used 24.0 gr. WW296 for over 40 years with 240 gr. jacketed bullets. Always shot good. (23.5 gr. with 250 Keiths).

Been using the same load, just not as long because I?m not as old as Doc.

Like wise.

How accurate, and at what distance, these are some of the loads I use, 24 grains H-110, 240 XTP, 21 grains of 2400, same bullet, pet load, 7 grains of title group, 240 hard cast, another powder I like is 4227, 21 grains, with XTP, good luck

Between my son and I we have somewhere around 10 44 mags. One load that shoots in every one of them is 22.0 H110 and a 240gr XTP. The scoped handguns shoot about 2" at 100 yards with them. I even have a couple of 44 rifles and it shoots good in them as well. I know in a couple of the handguns anything from 22 to 24 grs works. Shoots about the same size group just gains velocity.

In my 7.5” Super Blackhawk and Henry Big Boy I run 26gr of H110 with a 240gr XTP which is over book maximum but I worked up to it with no problems. I run 22gr of H110 under a home cast Lee 310gr which is the most accurate load in my gun.

More of the same for me. 23.5 gr of 296 under a 240 gr XTP shoots tight from a 10" TC, 7.5" Ruger blackhawk and my CVA Hunter rifle. The CVA also likes 17.1 gr of 296 under a 300 gr XTP. All will more than do the job on our Ohio whitetails.

For my 7.5” Super Blackhawk, 9.5” Super Redhawk and 14” T/C Contender, I shoot the standard 240gr XTP over 24.0gr of H110.

For my Henry Big Boy, I found 23.0gr of H110 works best.
