Did SSK ever make a bipod for contender or encore's? I just had one offered to me but I don't know if it's something ssk really made or if it's something someone made up. It has fixed legs that are held by a big wing screw type setup. Nothing like a harris more simple without any adjustments or springs. Any information on these or if someone has one a picture would be greatly appreciated.

Does it clamp on the barrel? If so those were common and inexpensive for rifles. I have never seen a bipod built by SSK but that doesn't mean they didn't make something. Give them a call!

SSK marketed it. Made by someone else. I have one. Attaches to barrel I believe. Have to look for it. A little flimsy, gives some muzzle flip. Not nearly as stable as a Harris. But the Harris is also bad for muzzle flip when shooting off hard surfaces (rocks, wood, metal). I think the legs were extendable, but I'll have to see mine.

I have one that JD sent me to try. It clamped on the barrel, and had two brass rods for legs, it was very light and the legs pivoted.
You cant shoot a big one, if you shoot a little one first.......

Thanks for the help on this. Sounds like what this bipod is it clamps to the barrel but looks like it's nickel plated or maybe stainless.

Personally i don't like the idea of anything hanging off the barrel & changing harmonics, and pressure on the barrel, especially if I'm shooting at ranges long enough to want a bipod I'd go with something on the forward sling swivel. I have been dabbling in the long range (Ernie might argue what defines "long range" and I will respect that!)rifle stuff for about a year, on a range that goes out to 1000 yds. It's amazing how much the point of impact varies when you hand something on the barrel or put pressure on it. For field stuff with the rifle I usually use my backpack.

For an SSK/Contender fan it would be an awesome piece of memorabilia :-) !!!
